Ryosuke (Kay) and Adel Kunisawa

When Kay was 18 years old, he left Japan for Nebraska to further his education. The following year he moved to Maui and that is where he met his wife, Adel, who was born and raised on Kaua'i & O'ahu.  They lived in Waikiki on O'ahu for five years while Kay worked in the hotel industry. 

In 1970, Kay was offered an opportunity to return to Maui and he became General Manager of Maui Sands Condominium Association, as well as the resort operations.  He held this position for over 20 years.  Nine of those years were also spent as resident manager.  In 1978 the family moved into the home they had been building in Kula.
